About us and how we work

Varna Guide is the network’s visitor guide – essentials, history, neighbourhoods, sights, travel and seasons – with every fact checked against official and reference sources. It is one of five Varna websites made by the same small editorial team, in six languages, for locals, visitors and newcomers.

What Varna Guide covers

Varna Guide is written for visitors planning a trip: the essentials (money, safety, language, emergency numbers), the city’s history from ancient Odessos to today, its neighbourhoods, museums and sights, how to get here and around, what each season is like, food, and trips along the coast.

Guides are evergreen pages: we keep them current instead of publishing a new article every year, and their “last updated” date changes only when the facts do.

How Varna Guide checks facts

Opening hours, prices and entry rules come from the museum, operator or institution itself, and travel rules from official EU and Bulgarian sources. Historical facts are checked against reference works and institutional sources, and each guide lists the pages it relies on.

Places recommended in a guide also appear in the places directory on Varna Now, with their position on OpenStreetMap.

What is automated on Varna Guide

Guides are not published automatically: when our software proposes a guide, it waits for an editor’s approval. AI tools help with research, drafting and translation, as described below.

Automation on Varna Guide is limited to the weather and warning panels, the public holiday calendar and the maps, which use the public data sources listed below.

One team, five sites

Varna Pulse (news), Varna Now (events and places), Varna Daily (everyday life), Varna Guide (visitor guide) and New in Varna (moving to Varna) are run by one small editorial team. They are not separate publishers: all five follow the same editorial rules, the same checking method and the same corrections process, and each site covers a different need.

We do not accept payment for listings or coverage, and no place on our lists has paid to be included.

How we use AI

AI tools help us monitor sources, draft summaries and translate pages into six languages. Editors set the rules and review sensitive topics; the section above says which pages on this site are published without an editor reading them first.

Images marked “AI-generated illustration” are not photos of the real place or event. “What people say” sections paraphrase recurring public opinions; we never invent quotes, reviews or ratings.

Corrections

If something is wrong, out of date or a place has closed, we check it and correct it. Every page shows when it was published and, when its facts changed, when it was last updated; real corrections are noted on the page itself.

A contact address for corrections will be published here before the sites go live.

Data sources

Live and daily data on our sites comes from these public sources. We show short facts with a link to the original and credit every source next to its widget.
