Euxinograd Palace visit: tickets, booking and tour times
Euxinograd, the royal palace 8 km north of Varna, opens only on pre-booked guided tours (Tue–Sun 09:00, 12:00, 15:00). Book by email; confirm the price.
Euxinograd is the former royal summer palace about 8 km north of Varna, and you can see it only on a guided tour booked in advance (travel.government.bg). Email [email protected]; groups go in Tuesday to Sunday at 09:00, 12:00 and 15:00 (as of 2026-10). Because it is still a government residence, a booked visit can be cancelled at short notice, and the price is not published, so confirm it when you book.
How do I book a visit to Euxinograd?
The official page of the government residences asks you to email [email protected] with the names of the visitors: two names for a couple, or a list for a group. Mixed groups with a guide are then formed for visits from Tuesday to Sunday. For questions, the reception numbers are +359 52 393 140 and +359 52 393 150. With only three slots a day, book well ahead in summer.
How much does it cost?
There is no official price list online, and the residence’s own website, euxinograd.bg, was unreachable when we checked on 26 October 2026. Danube Woods Route quotes about 5 leva (€2.50) for adults and 3 leva (€1.50) for children under 16 and seniors; these are older figures in leva. Bulgaria now uses the euro, so ask for the fee in euros when your booking is confirmed.
What will I see on the tour?
- The palace, built in Prince Ferdinand’s time (1887–1918) to designs by Hermann Mayer and Nikola Lazarov, and restored before it reopened in 2016.
- The park, landscaped from 1890 largely by the French designer Édouard André. It covers about 550 decares (55 ha), is protected and has over 300 plant species (travel.government.bg).
- Greenhouses, the Royal Stable, a sundial and the ruins of the Kastritsi fortress, which the official site lists within the estate.
- The winery, founded in 1891 to supply the royal court. According to Wikipedia it makes white wines and brandies.
Tours last up to about 90 minutes (Danube Woods Route). The official page does not mention wine tastings for tour visitors, so ask when you book if you are interested.
How do I get there from Varna?
Euxinograd lies on the coast road (Knyaz Boris I Blvd) between Varna and the resort of Sts Constantine and Helena. A taxi from the centre is the easiest option for a fixed tour slot. City buses to Sts Constantine and Helena use the same road; check the nearest stop on Varna Traffic before you go. Arrive a little early for your slot.
What about the Operosa festival?
Since 2007 the palace has hosted the Operosa open-air opera festival. We found no 2026 programme for Euxinograd, so look for announcements in summer. See our Varna festivals calendar for what is on.
